“Chairman Cromwell, please carry on,”
Carry on with what??? His temper tantrum over the SCOTUS decision?
Mr. Cromwell said the environmental impact statement for the casino in Middleborough and the planning for housing in Mashpee are going ahead as planned.
Go ahead....a completed EIS does not land-in-trust make.
Mr. Cromwell said the tribe’s leadership is planning on meeting with local and state officials in the near future, once the historical information has been compiled, to make their case in what he described as an “education” campaign.
Gee Mr. Cromwell....I hope you realize that you cannot contridict the historical information you already compiled and submitted with your application or you will have a lot of explaining to do....you may want to learn the rules of the game before you start "educating" people. If you don't, you may say something like this....
Mr. Cromwell said the tribe has a land deed agreed to by the colonial government and that the tribe was under federal jurisdiction as an Indian District in the 19th century. He said the tribe is also listed on a federal Department of War list dating back to the 1850s, though he said the tribe is still in the process of preparing its case and is not ready to release detailed information.
Sigh....okay, first of all....he is talking about the colonial government of the original 13 colonies...before the Federal government was formed. Second of all....I am not really sure how Mr. Cromwell can claim the tribe was under federal jurisdiction as an Indian District because the Indian District was formed by the State not the Federal Government. So again...if anything, the tribe was under state jurisdiction not federal.
Oh....and one more thing, Mr. Cromwell......
The Indians were under the Dept. of War until 1849 when the BIA was established in DOI.
All land belonging to State jurisdiction is in pink. See any tribes there? See any Mashpees there?
See any reservations there?
NO, NO and NO. Forget about it Mr. Cromwell, you either have no idea what you are talking about or you are a really great liar.
“Dreams are bad...when all they do is leave the truth behind...”

Nice job, cc!
He seems to believe that if he just keeps repeating it, someone will believe him.
Inevitable, Inevitable, Inevitable!
I love pink!
Seems to me that Ced has lots of splainin' to do.
Very good CC!
Now could you please visit Mr Cromwell and give him his education on Indian history and Indian law???
He's got to get it from somebody who knows what they're talking about. Otherwise, he's just going to keep making it up as he goes along!
These guys are smoking something?
So if IGRA says that gaming can only be conducted on Indian lands, and CC's map doesn't show any Indian land, where does Mr Cromwell think he is going to build his casino?
Better yet, WHY does Mr Cromwell think that he is going to build a casino in Middleboro? Because he wants one?
Really, I think the tribe needs to come back to Middleboro for another public meeting. I am at a loss as to why this man is so ignorant of the law, and would love to ask him why he thinks he has a right to build anything outside of Mashpee.
Another excellent blog.
I think if Mr. Cromwell is serious about looking to educate the Mashpee,(not Middleborough) Wamponoag Tribe in their history, what better teacher than you, Gldays Kravitz and Carl from Carl's Quotes! The written material is already done, for references, see your blogs.
His panic is showing.
Has anyone forgotten that the "Tribe" doesn't even own the land in Mboro?
The IGA says they pay the taxes, the $250K per year, but they own nuttin' !
Build in Mashpee? Yeah, if they conform to building regs, zoning regs, pay taxes which they seem to have a problem with.
They ain't no priveleged characters. Jist some ord'nary folk same as you and me!
Red light. Green light. Red light.
Somebody needs to teach Cedric chess. This is checkmate.
When Sol Kerzner and Len Wolman pull their money out and take down the signs, it will be over. On that note, how is it that investors from South America using contractors from Rhode Island be considered working with Middleboro? We are suppose to get first look at all contracts, all jobs, all phases of construction. It appears they have already breached the contract that was signed. In any event, Herb Strather has forgiven 6 million in debt that Len and Sol had with him over this deal, not sure what that means, but it is a lot of money. Maybe the investors are not giving up after all.

First of all, Kerzner & Wolman don't own the land where the signs are posted. Check the deeds in Plymouth. The land is still in the hands of Strather & his henchmen.
Secondly, the developers are from South Africa, not South America. Not that it matters, but if you are doing research on the casino, it helps to have the right facts.
Last, but not least, Herb Strather did not loan money to the developers, he loaned money to the tribe.
The signs don't need to be down for this to be over. The investors never had a say in whether or not this casino comes to fruition.
Repeat after me: "It ain't comin'. IGRA says so."
Read back through CC's blogs. You'll see the light.
